Exactly one Month Later
One month after announcing the 15 dogs for 15 veterans project we are near completion. We found the veterans through charities such as the EOD Foundation, American Military Family, SOF Missions and of course Forgotten Coast K9.
We then trained the veterans through Top Tier K9's Academy for Dog Trainers in an immersion program over a 2 week period. Foundation Dogs® were then matched with the veterans needs and delivery is underway! 6 of the dogs have already been delivered and the remaining 9 will be delivered between today and November 15th to meet scheduling needs of the veterans.
Beginning a week from this Saturday, the veterans will continue meeting in our virtual dog training center to learn how to take advantage of their dog's training protocols to make the team "all they can be". Troubleshooting, group classes, and additional training in areas such as protection, scent detection, tracking and advanced obedience.
Top Tier K9 certified locations in Denver, Indianapolis, Pensacola, Tampa, Southern West Virginia, and St. Louis will provide ongoing support, private lessons and boarding opportunities for the veterans. One of the veterans is moving forward with his own franchise that will be located in Troy Alabama and cover the wiregrass area of Alabama. A 5th SF Group retiree who is demonstrating how resilient our warrior community is. From the battlefield to the board room and learning to train service dogs and protection dogs for other disabled veterans. Tomorrow we attend a ceremony where a warrior and his puppy will begin the Top Tier K9 Foundation Dog® Trainer program. This will be attended by a US Senator and Florida Congressional members at the state capital building. Forgotten Coast K9 (www.ForgottenCoastK9.org) is the sponsor of this veteran and is a charity we work closely with in this program. This weekend we will be attending the American Military Family benefit in Denver Colorado and will be showcasing our service dog program and working with the K9 recipients from that charity for this program. Then the remaining dogs will be delivered to finalize this 15 dogs for 15 veterans project. www.TopTierK9.com
